American Football Coaches Foundation Announces Power of Influence Golf Outing in Austin, Texas

University of Texas Head Coach, Mack Brown, to speak at event.

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Building from the successes of the Randy Walker Power of Influence held annually in Lake Forest, Illinois, the American Football Coaches Foundation will hold the Texas Power of Influence Golf Outing on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Barton Creek Country Club in Austin, Texas.

This charitable golf outing is an initiative of the "Crossing the Goal Line” fundraising campaign  launched by the American Football Coaches Foundation® (AFCF®) in 2006.

As it has become tradition with the AFCF Golf Outings, an auction and a dinner reception are planned following the golf outing.  The auction will be held in the Darrell Royal Ballroom and will feature sports memorabilia, tickets to events and football games, and many other unique items.  As a featured part of the reception, Mack Brown, head coach from The University of Texas, is this year’s keynote speaker at the reception. A limited number of tickets for the reception are available for $100 each.

The AFCF holds a similar annual event in the Chicago area, The Randy Walker Power of Influence golf Outing.  Nearly $500,000 has been raised for the AFCF in the outings first three years.  The AFCF supports the AFCA and its education of coaches including in areas of youth suicide prevention and a national child identification initiative in partnership with the FBI.

“More than 1.5 million youngsters play the game of football each year,” says Teaff, executive director of the American Football Coaches Foundation.  “The fundamental role of a coach is to help his players become better tomorrow than they are today, both as players and as individuals.  That is the true power of influence.”

Many other coaches and notables are expected to attend and participate.  Please visit the AFCF website for updates regarding details that are planned for this important event.
