Wisconsin’s Bielema to Keynote 4th Annual Randy Walker Power of Influence Golf Outing

LAKE FOREST, ILLINOIS – The American Football Coaches Foundation’s Randy Walker Power of Influence Golf Outing will be held on Monday, June 29, 2009, at the prestigious Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest.

Wisconsin Head Coach Bret Bielema will give the keynote address, and will be joined by many of his football brethren, including Pat Fitzgerald (Northwestern); Brian Kelly (University of Cincinnati); Tyrone Willingham; Mark Murphy (President, Green Bay Packers); Ted Hendricks (NFL Hall of Fame Class of 1990); R.C. Slocum (former Texas A&M Head Coach, AFCF President); Dick Maloney (University of Chicago);  Dave Clawson (Bowling Green), Grant Teaff (Executive Director, AFCA) and many others.

Named to honor the memory of the Northwestern head football coach who was involved in the establishment of this event, nearly $500,000 has been raised for the AFCF in the outings first three years.  The AFCF supports the AFCA and its education of coaches including in areas of youth suicide prevention and a national child identification initiative in partnership with the FBI.

“More than 1.5 million youngsters play the game of football each year,” says Teaff, executive director of the American Football Coaches Foundation.  “The fundamental role of a coach is to help his players become better tomorrow than they are today, both as players and as individuals.  That is the true power of influence.”

An exclusive auction and a dinner reception follow the golf outing.  The auction will feature sports memorabilia, tickets to events and football games – from college Bowl contests to the NFL Super Bowl -- and many other unique items.  Following the auction, Bielema will deliver his keynote address.  A limited number of tickets for the reception are available for $100 each.

For information regarding golf outing sponsorship and participation or tickets to the dinner reception and auction, please call Mike Taylor at (847) 609-4187 or visit www.afcf.us.

“Coach George Smith is not only an influence on young people, but the influence is multiplied many times in the beliefs of the young people he helped mold into amazing human beings.
